Association Azzedine Alaïa Brings Oum Kulthum To Paris

Oum Kulthum, the mystical voice, the woman who united the Orient from west to east, has arrived to Paris. Association Azzedine Alaïa has just opened its doors, and until January 5th 2020, to its new exhibition Looking for Oum Kulthum by Shirin Neshat.

As the capital celebrates the art of photography during Paris Photo fair, the Iranian artist Shirin Neshat introduces her work to the city of lights, after its inauguration at the Venice Film Festival. Eight photos bridge Oum Kulthum the icon, to the Oum Kulthum of different eras, with two short films that bring the audience closer to an unforgettable Arab figure.

Looking for Oum Kulthum by Shirin Neshat is an exhibition that highlights the grande voice and character of Oum Kulthum; the artist, the political activist and the woman behind the persona.

It naturally takes place within the doors of Azzedine Alaia’s premises, as Oum Kulthum was one of the late designer’s favorite chanteuse.

On the ground floor of 18 rue de la verrerie, you will also get to visit Azzedine Alaïa Another Way to Look at Fashion. The Tati Collection.
