Zuhair Murad Couture Fall-Winter 2026-27
For Fall-Winter 2026-27, Zuhair Murad enters an imagined realm of frozen castles, enchanted forests and women who have learned to command their own power. Entitled Love and Dominion, the collection introduces a heroine who has endured hardship without surrendering to it. She remains standing, protective, magnetic and entirely in control, carrying enough magic to destroy everything, but enough wisdom to transform only what must change.

This season’s Murad woman is defined by contradiction. She loves without reserve, yet refuses to lose herself. She is vulnerable but unreachable, romantic yet disciplined, both fairy and sorceress. Her strength is not expressed through aggression, but through self-mastery. A sweeping cape resembles a storm held in suspension, while fluid draping suggests restraint rather than fragility. Every gesture appears controlled, as though the clothes themselves contain forces that could be unleashed at any moment.

Embroidery becomes the collection’s principal language. Across black tulle, flights of nightjars appear as appliqués and sculptural reliefs, transforming birds traditionally associated with superstition into graceful protectors. Three-dimensional rose brambles spread across fitted jackets, dramatic corolla necklines and sculpted sleeves, their crystal-covered thorns sparkling like frost. Against nocturnal fabrics, vivid colour emerges unexpectedly, revealing light beneath darkness.

Murad also reimagines wrought iron as a delicate trompe-l’œil motif. Rather than suggesting confinement, its ornamental lines evoke escape, creating the illusion of gates opening toward another world. This tension between protection and freedom runs throughout the collection: silhouettes enclose the body while simultaneously preparing it for flight.

The materials heighten that duality. Velvet, crepe, radzimir and duchesse satin provide structure and authority, contrasted with the weightless movement of silk chiffon. Feathers appear as stoles, muffs and intricate embroideries, lending the heroine an almost supernatural presence. She could rise into the air, yet chooses instead to move calmly through the world, gliding over every obstacle with absolute composure.

The palette belongs to an enchanted winter landscape. Profound black is joined by fir green and rich wine shades, moving from soft, diluted tones to dark, saturated hues. At times, colour seems to bleed across pale-pink tulle in embroidered trails, creating the impression of emotion breaking through an otherwise disciplined surface.

Despite its fantasy, Love and Dominion never slips into costume. Its drama remains measured, rooted in Murad’s understanding of the female form and his ability to balance opulence with precision. The collection’s heroine may inhabit a world of legends, but her emotional struggle is entirely contemporary: how to love deeply without surrendering one’s independence, and how to remain sensitive without becoming powerless.
