Céline Spring/Summer 2019

The fashion world evolves with every piece of (positive) breaking news, and that is probably why everyone wanted a seat for Hedi Slimane’s first show for the established Parisian house of Céline.

What was new? Both men and women had their fair share of the collection, definitely a first for all the male fans of Céline out there. Flowy and sexy dresses were worn under very masculine jackets, and a male’s ensemble can be easily worn by a liberated femme.

It was also all about the color black: from the little dress and the classic jacket to the show stopping tailored suit. And even though the show occurred during the Ready-to-Wear week in Paris, a big number of pieces were handcrafted in the maison’s atelier, adding that touch of haute which we always look for.

Another fruitful collaboration was with Swiss-American artist Christian Marclay whom Slimane’s chose as a muse for Spring/Summer. Marclay’s comic inspired collages and artworks were visible on items like bags, jackets, parkas and dresses. Animal motifs like alligator, python and lizard were omnipresent and used adequately for an extra edge.

Celine’s iconic eyewear, handbags and shoes collection had a space to shine as always.
