The Happy Sport By Chopard Turns 25

During the Baselworld 2018 show, the refind jewelry house of Chopard celebrated the 25th anniversary of its iconic Happy Sport.

The Happy Sport watch was first imagined by Caroline Scheufele as a novel and liberated deign. Scheufele, the Co-President and Artistic Director, wanted to fuse precious stones like diamonds with practical elements like steel. And hence Chopard’s Happy Sport reinvented what is known as a sporty-chic look.

The elegantly fun personality of the collection has gained global recognition by women who transformed their watch into a fashion and lifestyle statement. And over the past quarter of a century, more than a thousand designs have been created. Happy Sports were crafted with all kinds of stones incorporated in square, oval and circular frames with silk, leather and all types of metal bracelets.

The Happy Sport has become a palette of expression, specifically with the change of strap option, which allows you to match it with an outfit, mood or style. The key to its success lies in the fact that “Diamonds are happier when they are free,” as the founder of the Happy Diamonds concept, Karin Scheufele, affirmed back in 1963.

The Happy Sport model (left & right): The new Happy Sport appears with a 36mm rose gold case and a polished or diamond-set bezel. It is fitted with a grey guilloché dial matched with an 18-carat rose gold bracelet or grey brushed canvas strap.

The Happy Sport Oval model (center): The watch is topped by an 18-carat rose gold bezel with alligator leather straps that feature a choice of colours ranging from noble royal blue to ultra-chic deep navy blue. The silver-toned guilloché dial houses seven moving diamonds and the model is equipped with a mechanical self-winding movement specially developed for 30 mm ladies’ watch cases.
