The Insult: First Lebanese Film Heading To The Oscars

If you are Lebanese, then you are definitely familiar with the revolutionary and creative director Ziad Doueiri, the man behind the iconic West Beyrouth film.

People inside and outside the industry were always rooting for Doueiri, it was just a matter of time before one of his movies would be renowned and awarded on a global level. And just when he collaborated with actor/comedian Adel Karam (also known for Nadine Labaki’s Caramel), did this dream become a reality.

The Insult film is officially the first Lebanese film to ever get an Oscar nomination. Among five finalists, The Insult is competing for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards.

The story revolves around the Lebanese civil war, about its very start as a conflict between a Lebanese Christian right-wing man and his battle with a Palestinian refugee. A complex scenario that sheds the light on 15 years of a destructive civil war.

We are crossing our fingers for the film as we impatiently await the ceremony on March 4, 2018.
